Here is the whole sentence, もうすぐ夏だし、今日は奇抜な髪型に挑戦しちゃおうかなっ。

I don't understand what しちゃおう mean? May someone explain please. Thanks.

hmmm but the kana on the end shows that it's not a definite decision... "I'm wondering if I should........" so the shichaou sounds like it's taking on the nuance of playing it down, like, "this may not be a good idea....(I might regret it later).. but..."

"しちゃおう" by itself means something like "let's just go ahead and do it".

In this sentence, however, the phrase "しちゃおうかなっ" means something like "I'm thinking of just going ahead" (and getting my hair styled in a daring fashion today).

For the record,　しちゃう is a contraction of してしまう, which you presumably already know what means. But if not, it generally expressed that what what's happening is unfortunate or accidental. Or, like Essential_Japan said, kindof a "just going ahead and...!" kindof feeling that's honestly really hard to translate or describe. Kindof a fake accident?
