注射???

Postby samihu » June 20th, 2008 2:11 am

I've been listening to the Intermediate lessons lately and in the PDF for lesson 19, there is a sample sentence that says:

注射をするのは涙が出る程痛いです。

And it was translated as:

Taking a shot is so painful that it brings tears to my eyes.

I know "注射" means "shot", but now I'm confused as to what kind of shot it is- an injection or alcohol. I originally thought it was an injection, but that would be "getting a shot". "Taking a shot" I've only heard in reference to alcohol.

Soooo, which is it? Or is it both?

You're correct. 注射 here refers to the medical injection.
