私的に, it's colloquial alternatives & overal impress

私的に seems to be more or less the personal natured equivalent to 一般的に,

Really?
I thought 私的に　meant "privately, personally" and 一般的に　meant "openly, commonly"

If anything, they seem quite opposite. Of course I could be wrong and be missing something obvious.

There are two separate words, with the same kanji but different pronunciation:

私的 【してき】 (adj-na,n) personal; private; proprietary
私的 【わたしてき】 (adj-na) personal; my style; my way

I think that is what is confusing you, and also skewing the search results in google. |f you search for it in kanji you will get both sets of results.

tjperrot is talking about the second word, but ochazuke is talking about the first.

I was indeed talking about the 2nd one (してき）, but they both seem very similar in meaning、at least the "personal" aspect.

My confusion is mostly on how the 2nd one (or the first for that matter) is similar to 一般的に　（いっぱんてきに）as tjperrott wrote.

Never heard watashi-teki. Shi-teki ni as I know it means personally. Oreteki ive never heard either. Kojinteki ni is another way to say personally.
