My site's name in Kana/Kanji and Romanji?

Postby Vision » April 10th, 2007 4:47 pm

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about making a japanese branch for my Star Wars collecting website, and I thought maybe we can begin on a header image for it.

My site is called "The Sith Empire.Net". What would that translate into in kana/kanji? And also, what's the romanji for that?

thanks,
Arvin Mathur

Well, we could call it

sitsuimparu.net

What's the japanese word for empire?
And would this be the correct katakana for sith?
シツ

I'm sorry, I'm still learning this kana/kanji stuff.

Sith should actually be シフ (shi-fu), and Empire is 帝国 (tei-koku), resulting in シフ帝国. You can decide whether or not you want to use the Japanese for 'The' = ザ (za). Though for your information, 'The' wasn't used in the Japanese title for The Empire Strikes Back = 帝国の逆襲 (teikoku no gyakushuu).

シフの帝国

According to Wikipedia, Sith is シス.

シスの帝国.

My miss. I actually checked it on Wikipedia but for some reason forgot to change the フ to ス.

Also, I considered using の, but my thinking is that シスの帝国 would be The Empire of the Sith, whereas シス帝国 would be The Sith Empire. What do you think?

I'm not really sure. Most empires use straight usage like that (i.e., イギリス帝国, 精神ローマ帝国, etc.) but I had just assumed that was because they were countries.

You could probably go either way.

Googled for it, and シス帝国 gets far more hits (300 to シスの帝国's 4), but that Wiki article uses them both.

シス帝国 seems to be preferred.
