Japanese Radio Podcasts

Postby dynamene » April 7th, 2007 12:15 am

Hello,

I have been studying Japanese for about a month now and have recently been looking for good sources of Japanese conversations.

Poking around the net I found:

http://www.tbsradio.jp and
http://www.jfn.co.jp/jfn_top

which seem to have a number of talk-radio style podcasts that you can subscribe to, or download.

I was wondering if people here have any recommendations for good Japanese language streaming radio or podcasts?

Use the Japanese iTunes. When I switched my iTunes from US to Japanese locale, it opened up alot of Japanese Podcasts I can browse through with their iTunes store. Like the US iTunes, they even have top 10 podcasts for Japanese, different genras, etc...

The NHK podcast is pretty good. They have both English and Japanese versions. The only thing is, they post new shows every hour I think. To get around this I just subscribe and unsubscribe after the download whenever I want some NHK news. Should be pretty easy to find in iTunes.

Thanks.

So far my favorite source for Japanese podcasts is:

podtv.jp

They have a number video-blog type podcasts about 5-20 min long.

Now I finally have something useful to do with my Apple TV!

Regarding NHK: Maybe it's just me, I am still very much a beginner and am not able to do much more than pick up words here and there, but I find NHK news difficult to listen to.

I've listened to the TBS radio podcasts... but to be honest, conversations with multiple people talking at the same time are more than I can handle. There used to be a show, I think it was called Daily Ranking, or something like that, that I really liked. While I didn't understand most of what was being said, I found it extremely useful in getting used to hearing regular Japanese spoken at full speak. Of course, I was listening to those podcasts before JapanesePod101 came along.

Thanks! I've added it to iTunes.

Why don't we build a list of podcast feeds that you can add to iTunes? Let's start with yours:

If you have additional feeds that you listen to, please let us know!

I subscribe to two Japanese language podcasts (other than www.japanesepod101.com, hahaha!)

1. My Cup of Tea, available through iTunes. Pot-au-feu is the guy's screen name and his real name is Shinichi Sato. He lives in Nagoya. I can't understand very much of it but I keep hoping I will understand more. Main points:

He is a Mac User and has lots of creative ideas for using Apple products.

He always plays 1-3 tunes on his podcast. I LOVE his taste in music!! I have learned a lot of new artists by listening to him.

2. MLBJapaneseBallPlayers.com Radio. Available through iTunes. Two guys who live in the U.S. discuss Japanese ball players who play in Major League Baseball. One guy lives in Boston and the other guy lives near Washington, D. C. Again, I don't understand much, but I am a huge baseball fan and I keep hoping I will understand more.

Hope this helps someone else!!
:D

Kiss-FM Kobe & Story Podcasts

Postby ceirelav » January 16th, 2008 3:18 pm

Here are some more Japanese radio podcasts:
http://www.kiss-fm.co.jp/pc2/podcasting/
I personally love MixJuice, because it's female oriented.

I like the following story podcast:
http://www.o-hanashi.net/hanacas.html
It has some children's stories written by 新美南吉.
So, they aren't too hard to understand.
Plus, you can find the original story text at http://www.aozora.gr.jp/index_pages/person121.html#sakuhin_list_1
