Bulkrenaming of PDFs

Does anyone know of a way to rename lots of PDFs all at once, in some kind of semi intelligent way?

I have all of the old lessons saved on my computer, including the mp3 and the lesson notes/pdf. The file names have gotten pretty messy over time, as jpod101 have changed the naming convention a few times, and each time I switch feed it changes the names. Anyway, I found a program that renames mp3s in large batches, using the id3 tags, so it was pretty easy to get all the file names of the mp3s in a consistent format, but the PDFs are all over the place.

Does anyone know of an easy way to rename all the PDFs in a uniform format?

Incidentially, has any one else noticed that on the new premium feed, the names of the regular PDF and the kanji PDF are the same, so it is impossible to tell which is which? You can normally guess by file size (the kanji pdf is smaller) but this doesn't always work.
