google translator

Postby metablue » May 13th, 2006 2:17 am

I got a bit lazy and ran a thread in the Let's Practice Japanese forum through the Google translator, and it's rather funny!

From various posts:

Good morning. I am the roller. Don't you think? it may and meets.
Your Japanese bee [yo] [u] it was good, was. Today bearing with the final, it does!

Sleeve shank. Now it is understood.

As for “Top of the Class ". . . This class is to be hollow, i-adjective na-adjective do can! It is groovy, is.

Five years of medical university it studies alone it probably will be entwined (to rust, it forces and calls and calls and is good).

LOL!

so desu ne = sleeve shank???

The best part is that the translated title of the forum is "You Will Practice Japanese".

Ah!

袖 [そで] [sode] - (n) sleeve.
脛 [すね] [sune] - (n) leg, shin.

With the lack of spacing and all the homonyms, Japanese (kana anyway) must be a nightmare for machine translation.

ありがとう Sindyさん I didn't know Japan had it's own Google domain, 反れは凄いだよ!
I usually use the US and sometimes the Mexico domain when I need to look up something in spanish, such as recipes, soccer schedules for Mexican teams and such...
