Kabuki?

Postby laughinghyena21 » February 13th, 2007 12:34 am

Hey Mina,

In one of the pods that I heard, there is a place in Japan that was labled "infamous". Off hand I dont remeber the name, but I think it had "kabuki" in it.

Also, Peter mentioned that its in the site somewhere, but I couldnt find it.

Any ideas?

Off the top of my head, he was probably referring to the Kabuki-za theatre in Ginza -

I've seen two performances there and can wholeheartedly recommend it.

I don think its a place, I think its more on the line of a strip. Like Times Sqare or Easy Street. I may have to just listen to the track again to know for sure.

Kabuki-za is the only place that I can think of in Tokyo.

If you just want to see a bit of kabuki they sell 1 act tickets for quite cheap, but you have to queue for them right before the performance so if you don't get there early enough it can be standing room only.

You're talking about Kabuki-cho (歌舞伎町). That's Tokyo's red-light district.

OK, that's funny - we are talking about completely different things here. You mean Kabukicho, the wonderfully sleazy area of Tokyo. Here's the Wikipedia entry - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabuki-cho
