spam and comments

Postby Belton » February 11th, 2007 12:51 pm

I'm just wondering after another one of my posts got eaten if it's worth having a system that authenticates posts in the comments.

(like the one used here,
http://www.tuaw.com/
where after a first confirmation of your email address a password allows subsequent posts.)

I don't know how often comments get eaten, or if it is actually a problem. Someone has always kindly rescued my comment from the trash when I email jPod101.
I imagine that Spam must be a problem on a site like this and I'm impressed that I've rarely seen any and then only for a very short time.

We keep an eye on our spam folder, and good comments don't get caught very often. So, IMHO, I don't think an authentication system like that is really necessary. Thanks for the suggestion, though. :)
