Utawarerumono うたわれるもの

Hi~
I started to watch this animation a while ago and it's brilliant!
It is being translated as "The One Being Sung" in some countries, but I wonder why?

I know 'uta' means songs, 'mono' means something, but wat is the meaning of 'wareru'? can anyone explanin that for me? I am SO interested to know the meaning.

rather than
歌われる物
The thing that is sung with 歌われる the passive form of 歌う and 物 as thing.
It'd depend on what kanji if any were used, I suppose.

謳われる [うたわれる] (v1,vi) to be admired, to be stipulated, to be clearly expressed
者 [もの] (n) person.

The ~reru bit is how the passive is made.

you get the plain negative
うたわない
drop nai to get the negative stem
うたわ
add reru to make the passive
うたわれる

Then in this case, this plain form verb is modifying the noun mono. Where in English we'd probably use a relative clause especially when the modifying phrase is complex.
