Emergency Japanese Help

Postby Ian » January 4th, 2007 2:40 pm

Hi,

My name is Ian. First post, but I have been listening for awhile.

Guess what? I'm in Japan! That's the good news. I'm also leaving Japan soon. I have been staying at my girlfriend's parent's home for the past.....oh.....12 days or so. That's a long time. Also, I have been told that the boyfriend staying over at a GF's parents home, or even going to her parents' home, is quite a big deal for some Japanese families.

Anyway, I'm leaving their home tomorrow, and I need a proper way to thank them.

Doumo Arigato Gozaimasu ain't gonna cut the mustard. I need something that says "Thanks for everything, and letting me stay for so long," or anything to similar effect. I just need something right for the occasion. My girlfriend tried to help me and told me to say: "Nagai osewa ni narimashita", but I told her that I wanted to come up with something of my own, and have failed completely. :(

Got any suggestions for me? I have like 8 hours to figure something out. :o

THanks anyway.

I got a fantastic answer from someone named AK at Japan-Guide.com. Not saying they're better or anything, but oh well, I'll still stick around here. :)

Thanks for reading.

Can you tell us what you came up with in the end? Now I'm interested.

I know its to late but...

I did a little searching and found this phrase: いろいろとありがとう。 It translates to mean thanks for everything.

You could also add: I enjoyed myself.
本当に楽しかったです.
