What Music Do You Like?

Postby Liz21 » May 3rd, 2006 9:32 pm

Hi!
It would be omoshiroi to find out what music everyone likes, ne?
I wondered if anyone else has heard The Yoshida Brothers. They play samisens in some kind of rock style. I like their music a lot. I downloaded the whole album from iTunes. 8)

I like a lot of music.
Pretty much anything and everything that isn't country or rap.

Here's some favorite though:

Cibbo Matto
The Beatles
Tool
Nine Inch Nails
Yoko Kanno
Malice Mizer
J'anne da arc
Prince and the revolution
Don MacClean
Bob Dylan
AC/DC
Coldplay
Tears for Fears
Mr Bungle / Faith no More / Tomahawk / Fantomas
(WOO! Mike Patton and his many bands rule!)

That's probably enough for now. Haha. :P

I listen to all kinds of music. Don't really know a lot of Japanese stuff though.

I like Sufjan Stevens, Bright Eyes, Wilco, Twilight Singers, Arcade Fire, Bob Dylan, Rilo Kiley, Ryan Adams, Elliot Smith, Lene Marlin, Joy Zipper, Air... and so on. Also I like a lot of classical music (Grieg!!) and some jazz and swing etc

I'll check out these Yoshida bros

Hi, Helen!
You're like me -- you like a great variety of music! Are you Scandinavian (you like Grieg!) I love all kinds of classical music, but I also like Arcade Fire, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, all kinds of alternative rock, etc.

I like really old, folk music (even if performed by modern musicians). Everything from Japanese enka, to Middle Eastern and Persian mizrakhi, to Jewish klezmer and Sephardi beats. Of course, I like some modern groups too, (Foo Fighters, Outkast, the Beastie Boys, Rie Fu to name a few).

Most people hear my music playing and give me one of those "what the fudge?" looks...

Classical music is always good. Anything else that has a nice beat is also grand. :)

My favorites are
Nirvana
Evanescence
Green Day
Metallica
AC/DC
Deep Purple
Jimi Hendrix

And as you were talking about Grieg, yes I love his music too. Played it myself. And Chopin, Mendelssohn, Erik Satie. I kinda grew up with classical music. Oh yes and the Beatles and Jazz.

Now, what is Jrock? Can anybody give me some names? And what makes Jrock different from rock outside Japan? (or Jpop)
