living in Japan?

Postby annie » December 12th, 2006 6:48 am

I'm curious to know who is in Japan and what you're doing here.

I'm about 45 minutes from Nagano city on the local trains, less than 15 minutes on the shinkansen. Just moved here in September from Funabashi, Chiba. I'm an Assistant English Teacher、but not a JET.

I'm also an AET at a high school in Sakai, in southern Osaka.

Shirakawa, Fukushima, about 1.5 hours north of Tokyo by Shinkansen, JET ALT of 1.5 years, planning at least 1.5 more years being in Japan.

Then I conquer the world. Mwah-ha-ha.

I would love to live in Osaka. Nagano is a bit too rural for me.

Osaka's where it's at. One of the few cities in Japan that has a lot of character.

Ugly as sin though.

true enough. but if you want beauty, kyoto is a short ride away.

are you working as a JET, through a dispatch company, or a private hire?

Dispatch.

Private hires are quite rare around these parts, I think.

I am a Systems Devlopment manager for a foreign investment firm. I've been here for almost 6 years but living in Tokyo my Japanese is not nearly as good as it should be!
