Genius memorization software for OSX

Postby snozle » September 29th, 2006 5:43 pm

I recently came across a program for OSX called genius. It's a basic memorization program with a built in algorithm.

I have tried numerous programs. Supermemo's claims and algorithm seemed promising; however, the interface is horrible and it's painful to use. Also, there isn't a native OSX version so I was running it in parallels desktop. Next, I tried iFlash which is a native OSX flash card application. It's very nice and supports pictures and sounds but it doesn't seem to have an algorithm like supermemo and genius does (it does have score and interval modes which seem similar to an algorithm).

Anyway, check it out and let us know what you think.

I searched around for a flashcard program (that was free!) for a while. I only found this one a few days ago (Great timing by the way...I just joined this forum today)

Anyways, there's one here. It's called StudyCard Studio Lite.

It's freeware, the usage at first was sorta confusing, but if you read through the directions it's easy enough.

(Have you done the thing in System Preferences so you can write in Japanese? Because you need that...)

When you open the program it will show you how to use it with this lengthy sort of introduction (ugh, how I hate instructions) but the thing is useful.

I use a program called 'Ebbinghaus' and also 'Kotoba' - both are useful but neither is perfect. I have not yet tried Genius or Studycard, thanks for the suggestions.

i was scanning through this forum yesterday and found references to all the above flashcard systems.

so far, i like ebbinghaus best, just more verstaile interface

a slightly different freeware is Freemind - which can be used to make mind maps for memory aid
