て form desu masu stem

Hi,

Beginner Season 4, Lesson 11 starts to talk about て form. But it only explains conjugated in the dictionary form.
Do you have any lessons that explain how to conjugate て form in the ‘desu masu’ form? I’ve been studying using desu masu form so the dictionary form kind of throws me off.

Simple answer: you don't.

The masu form of a verb is really only used at the end of the sentence; the final verb sets the politeness level for the entire sentence. The て form, meanwhile, is the linking form of the verb. By it's nature, it's not going to be the end of the sentence.

That's not to say you won't see it there. The て form is used as an imperative, but that's because it's assumed that "kudasai" follows it. Which, perhaps is what you want. If you want to make "Tabete" more polite, you say "Tabete kudasai."
