kokugo Grade 2 study

Hello,
My son has just started Grade 2 in Japan and is having a difficult time with his Kokugo reading class.
Do any members have suggestions or computer apps that could help him with reading Japanese at a Grade 2 level?

He was born in Japan, but we moved to Canada for 5 years and he just studied very easy Japanese over that time, now he
is back in Japan and struggling to catch up with the other grade 2 classmates.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

I found some apps on google play that are good for reading, but I would like my son to be able to hear the pronunciation as well.
