Help writing this sentence?

"I suffered. I learned. I changed."

I've asked others and received these answers:
1. 私は苦しみ、学び、変わりました。
watashi wa kurushimi, manabi, kawarimashita.

2.苦しました。習いました。変えました。
Kurushimashita, Naraimashita, Kaemashita

Are either of those correct?

Also, could you write it vertically too, please?

The first sentence is more sophisticated than the other because it’s a compound sentence.
On the other hand Number 2 has three sample sentences and 苦しみました is correct.
Unfortunately this page is not compatible with vertical writing.
