Help with one grammar point.

Postby orthoepy » September 19th, 2014 2:29 pm

I found a sentence in my Text book and I was wondering something.

The sentence is:

〜〜〜これまで何度も鶏肉を食べてみようと思いましたが、〜〜〜

I guess that 食べてみよう would mean... I tried to eat chicken...

Can I use that pattern with every verb? For example... I tried to skateboard etc...

Thanks for your help. :D

ありがとうございます。

In my grammar book there is also following grammar points (with no explanation). I tried to understand but I can't :x

1。お侍ち下さい。
2。お読みになる。
3。読まれる。
4。まいる
5。お侍ちします

I know the お is the humble form. But the rest ist very confusing.

Hopefully can help.

Orthoepy さん、

こんにちは。
We have some sentence structures for honorific expression.
One of them is お+ verb stem + くださいwhich means ‘please do the verb’.
Another one is お+ verb stem + になる which is used for people in a higher position’s action.
The other one isお+ verb stem するwhich is used to the speaker self.
And 3 means read is used to people in a higher position.
4 means go or come is used to the speaker self.
Therefore ,
1. Please wait.
2. Please read.
3. A person in higher position reads.
4. I am coming.
5. I will wait.
