Self-study with japanesepod101 - is it possible?

Hi.

I recently created a topic in a forum about how I self-studied Japanese at japanesepod101.com for 1 year and obtained JLPT N2.

Most people were high motivated by my topic and shared it with their friends. I guess Japanesepod101 got some new users too.

However, one of them call my topic and my so-called learning experience ridiculous and call me a big fat liar, because it's totally impossible to self-studying Japanese without proper class and teachers.

I'd like to ask those of you who self-studied Japanese at japanesepod101.com to share your success stories to prove those people wrong. Let's prove to them how self-studying is totally possible.

Self study is certainly possible. I've been doing it for several years and have only recently added a Skype teacher to my study tools. It may not be the most effective, certainly it's much slower than full immersion, but it's entirely possible

I think some people can study by themselves and others can’t.
It depends on people.
You two are motivated and can do autonomy learning so that’s great.
