小狼さん、
I like studying English.
日本語 の 勉強 を する こと が 好きです。
日本語 の 勉強 を する の が 好きです。
As you know you can't say,
英語 の 勉強 を する が 好き です。
Particles, such as が, を and は don't like verbs before them.
So you have to change "日本語語の勉強をする" into a noun using "Koto" or "No".
In this case, "Koto" and "No" are interchangeable.
"Koto" sounds more formal than "No", and "Koto" is usually used in writing. Moreover,“no” indicates more personal thing, on the other hand “koto” can show more objectivity.
In most cases, "Koto" and "No" are interchangeable, but you can't put "No" which is for making a noun, before "Desu".
My hobby is listening to music.
私の趣味 は、 音楽 を きく こと です。
You can't say:
私の趣味 は、 音楽 を きく の です。
I hope it will help.
