Japanese to English translation request, please help

Postby Mackk » May 19th, 2014 2:59 am

Could someone please translate the text in the above two speech bubbles?

Would the translation be something like the following?

"Everything in this universe is composed of atoms. Destroying something is equivalent to destroying the atoms that compose it"

Also, I'm especially interested in knowing if the Japanese text is implying that atoms are completely destroyed/annihilated or if the atoms are separated or pulverized (but not literally/completely destroyed)

Mackk san,

I am sorry I had been waiting for other learners’ posts because they also like manga and you will be able to have a good discussion.
Your translation is pretty good.
Yes, it indicates that you mentioned.
gambatte kudasai.

Hello Yuki san, thank you for the reply!

Hmm, something is not clear to me in your reply though...

This-

I'm sorry, but could you explain a bit more please?

Are you referring to what I mentioned about "atoms are completely destroyed/annihilated" or "atoms are separated or pulverized (but not literally/completely destroyed)" ?

In other words, do you think the speech bubbles imply that the atoms are completely destroyed or not completely?

And thank you for your time! I really appreciate your help.

Mackk san,
Actually 砕く くだくmeans “break, smash and crash”.
It also translated into English ‘destroy, annihilate (physics area)’ and ‘pulverise’ so… it means the words’ meanings you listed are not different much here.
The bubble doesn’t say 完全にwhich means completely however, the similar meaning vocabularies, 破壊する and くだく are used so it emphasises “destroy and crash’ so it has nuance of “completely”.
Hope it will help.
