Hi,
I have a Japanese friend on Facebook and she recently posted that "she finally bought something yesterday". However, she doesn't state what the item is.
I would like to ask her what she bought specifically, but I'm not sure how I should go about doing it politely in Japanese without her thinking I'm a busybody.
Is this a good way to ask?
May I ask what you bought?
もし差し支えなければ、昨日買ったものを教えていただけませんか?
Is this too formal? Is there a way to incorporate 〜聞いてもいいですか?
Or am I over thinking things and should just ask 何を買いましたか?
Thank you.
