However, if you keep studying Japanese, I recommend you to learn letters and characters, too. The reason why is that if you depend on romaji, your pronunciation will be worse and it’s hard to recognise word boundaries.

Yes, you could use “from” correctly however, the tense should be ています which you might have not learnt yet.
When べんきょうしますis used, it indicates future tense so that sentence mean I will study Japanese from April.
When you want to say something using present perfect in English, I recommend you to use ています.
