Pronouncing my name is Japanese

Postby canning865005 » October 13th, 2013 5:29 am

Hi,

My name is Chris and I looked up what that was in Japanese and came up with Kurisu. My question is, is the u silent at the end so instead it would sound more like Kuris in the same way that desu sounds like dess or would I pronouncing the ending as "su"?

Thanks,
Chris

Yes, クリス (kurisu) will be pronounced pretty much as you describe. The 'u' in ku is also quite hard to hear, so your name will come out something like K'riss.
