Japanese name translation

Postby kielmacdonald5536 » August 16th, 2013 9:21 pm

Hello,

I saw the name 建志 (Kenji) for someone, but I didn't know what it would mean.

Healthy ambition ? Would that be how you translate it?

Thanks!

I think the first character means "build" and the second means "aspiration" or "ambition". I don't know how you'd translate it, though; it might be someone who builds aspiration or it might be someone who aspires to build...

kielmacdonald5536-san, マイケルsan,
kon'nichiwa.
マイケルsan is right; the first kanji stands for "to build". It can have meanings and/or connotations
of firm foundation, construction, settling etc. And the second kanji represents the determination
or ambition, aiming at certain achievement.
