deshou?

Postby danfernold7261 » August 8th, 2013 8:29 am

Konnichiwa:) Dan desu

This is a thread from my post on "something" about "something"

This time, It´s something like "Today we will talk about japanese"

I figured it might have been something like "kyou wa nihongo ni tsuite hanasu", but no, not according to Google Translate.
To it, it´s "kyou wa nihongo ni tsuite hanasu deshou"

That got me a little confused, since I´ve thought, from your lessons, that deshou is something like "right?" or "right." depending on the pronunciation, and that deshou is mostly used by women, while darou, is mostly used by men, but....

Is google right? (and am I right about my thoughts on deshou/darou?)

Yoroshiku

Ano... Tokorode....

kyou wa nihongo ni tsuite hanashimasu translates to "I will talk about japanese today" Shouldn´t that be the case with "kyou wa nihongo ni tsuite hanasu" too?

Dan-san,
it seems you don't need Google Translate any longer! :oiwai:

You're very right; it can be "kyou wa nihongo ni tsuite hanasu/hanashimasu."

The reason why GT gave you "mashou" in the sentence is that's the "safe" translation for "will...."
But it doesn’t mean you always need that. You created your sentence MUCH better than GT!

Dan-san,
dou itashimashite :D

Please be careful; "arigatou yo" could sound a bit blunt, so it's not for everyone.
