facebook video 20130804

Postby danfernold7261 » August 4th, 2013 12:47 pm

I have a little hearing the right word in a video on facebook from you here at jpod.
It sounds to me like the is saying:.sorewa, anata ga demuna kana yo. dehu wa yase ga sukina no"

Is this right? Seems a bit strange. Especially "demuna" and "dehu"

or is it maybe that I need to listen a little more to spoken japanese for the sake of pronunciation? Will try to do that.

But for now, おしえてください

よろしく

I think it's Sore-wa anata ga debu-na kara yo. Debu wa yase ga suki-na no.

debu is a na-adjective meaning "fat". Used as a noun I guess it means a fat person.

kara at the end of a sentence means it's an explanation (i.e. because).

yase is from yaseru (to lose weight).

Ok., so something like それは、あなたがでぶなかたよ。でぶはやせがすきなの with the second "debu" meaning Deb like the nickname for Deborah?

If so, is it something like "It is because you're fat. Deb likes skinny people" (or likes losing weight)

P.S: I'll work on my spoken japanese listening, as I said.

Dan-san, マイケルsan,
oh dear....what a conversation
It's close; I think the sentences were
それは、あなたがデブだからよ。デブはヤセが好きなの。
sorewa anata ga debu dakara yo. debu wa yase ga suki nano.

Both "debu" above mean "fat person(s)". It's a slang for "being bat" and can be used as noun as well.
I think both DEBU and YASE are considered as discriminatory terms.
The second sentence simply means "Fat people likes skinny people" and this "skinny people" were mentioned
by "yase", so as cynical as calling fat people as "debu".

While verb "yaseru" is a normal verb meaning "lose weight and become slim", opposite general term
is "futoru". In colloquialism, "deburu" can be used but this is just a "created verb" from this slang.

Try not to say this cynical line anyway...you won't be loved

Ok, so just to clarify.

Let´s say it´s a conversation between two large people, talking about a large friend to one of them, and one of them says

Why didn´t your friend like me?

and the other one says

That is.... because you´re a fat person. Fat people likes skinny people

Is it something like that?
