istephenyu8790-san, videovillain-san,
thank you very much for the interesting info and your efforts!

I just want to point out that Google translate is NOT ideal at all for this much detailed observation.
I checked the sound of とうちゃく on Google translate now and it doesn't pronounce it properly NOR with correct
pitch accent. For me, it sounds like a Korean person pronouncing it (i.e. pronunciation with certain Korean accent).

In the word とうちゃく, because of the く sound coming soon after ちゃ, this tend to be pronounced without vowel and just
"ch" in natural Japanese. Of course, with less movement of mouth, it can be heard very differently as well.

I agree that google translate is pretty much useless for pitch accent. It's good to know that they're pronounciation for any morae is also not credible.

Anyhow, thanks guys for your inputs!

Hey everyone!

You're all impressive!
The point is that it depends of you native language. Sometimes, sounds look like the same because one's native language doesn't make the difference.
I have met this point in French since there are a lot of different accents, but some are just never pronounced, even if the IPA says the opposite.

That's right, the pronunciation is terrible on Google Translate...
As Natsuko-san said already, don't trust it!

Have a nice day!
Cheers,
Mélanie
