home/house the same?

Postby Zelg » June 21st, 2013 11:42 pm

こんにちは

Wasnt sure exactly where to post this but here goes...

I started up with the Core 400 flashcards today and the first card comes up and its 家 and maybe from a previous list I already knew it. So I click know, then the next card that comes up says "house." So I figured that was a little odd. After seemingly getting the same card/word in a row a couple times I look at the list of words and see that both "house" and "home" are listed but with the same kanji and pronunciations. So this made me wonder if this is intended or possibly one of the cards has a different translation. As it is now it just feels a bit redundant :D

ニールさん、
こんにちは :D

Thank you very much for the post! You can always open forum or post your question on lesson comment
board!

I'll speak to my team about your post; the kanji 家 means both "house" and "home". When it's one of the key words
we wish learners to remember for sure, we might show it more than once.

The word 家 does not have multipul meanings (which are very different from one to the other), so,
at least there's not need for feeling too confused
