Email alert on personal messges in forums

I realise the BBS system being used is "off the shelf". But if there's a way to get an email alert that you have a personal message it'd be great. Like when a thread is updated.
It's just I tend to miss messages here for quite a while. Or even an alert on forum log-in.

The forum can already do that. Go into your profile and make sure the options for it are turned on.
