Figured out kanji!

Postby gaghl641295 » April 6th, 2013 5:58 pm

Okay, so earlier this week I was having problems with kanji because I wasn't sure how to approach learning it. I was getting confused with the multiple onyomi and kunyomi readings but I got it now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Example~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay so this kanji is 語. It can mean word, speech, or language.
The kunyomi readings are かた.る/かた.らう (Onyomi is "GO") The dot in the reading represents a parenthesis.
The can be 語る OR 語らう but the actual kanji will be read as KATA.
I'm so excited I've figured this out! :oiwai:
Curious as to your approach for learning kanji.
I know it's probably not healthy, but when I get frustrated I tend to sit and stare at something until I figure it out.
It took me about half an hour of finding words with the kanji in them and then reading the roman letters then I understood it.
As to memorizing the kanji, I use writing drills to learn them and then I plan to use flash cards to pound them into my head.
Zelg-san, gaghl641295-san,
interesting approach, gaghl641295-san! :mrgreen:
What's your approach, Zelg-san?
I'm not a Japanese learner, but I defenitely am kanji learner.
I just have to get off PC and practice hand-writing them on paper if I really want to learn them. :oops: :mrgreen:
