Twitter hashtag #みんなの思い

Postby adlerb9202 » March 10th, 2012 9:15 pm

On numerous tweets about the anniversary of the 2011 earthquake, I've seen the hashtag, #みんなの思い. It looks like this literally means "everyone's thoughts" or the "thoughts of everyone." But I was wondering if this is an expression that perhaps means, "my thoughts are with everyone."

Can anyone let me know what みんなの思い means and if it's a commonly used expression in Japanese.

Thanks.

Hi adlerb,
Thanks for posting!
Yes, the meaning of みんなの思い is the first translation you gave, "everyone's thoughts" or "thoughts of everyone". :)

Thank you. I've only just begun studying Japanese (learning fast thanks to JapanesePod101 videos!), but Twitter hashtags are hard sometimes even in English.
