for kanji - http://kanji.koohii.com/ - remembering the kanji book sample chapter on that site, that site also has a great review feature to help you remember what you learned, the book takes you through learning 2000 kanji. his method allows you to learn many kanji quickly. (I do 10-60 a day)

for grammar - http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar Tae Kim's free grammar guide is posted here, helpful for lot of people

for vocab, listening, reading, reviewing grammar and Kanji - use this site.

I'm assuming you already know Katakana and Hirigana since you are going for L3, but if you don't http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKh9MQOaZ7I
that's part 1 of a 6 part series for learning the hirigana quickly. (takes approximately 3 hours to finish Hirigana) he also has a Katakana series.

I am studying at home for N3. I am not very hopeful of passing, but I am studying every day and doing my best.

I am using the following resources:
ANKI.
Shared deck: Japanese Vocabulary for JLPT N3 with Audio
Shared deck: JLPT Kanji-Nihongo somatome text *complete*
Personal deck: peko peko
Personal deck: bikkuri adverbs

I'm finding Anki amazingly effective.

Textbooks.
Nihongo somatome vocab
Nihongo somatome grammar

I also have a couple of drill books with practice questions. If they are in any way representative of the real difficulty level of the exam, I will definitely fail. :(

I am waiting for the official sample exam papers to arrive from Japan. They are a mixture of real past exam questions and sample questions.

Japanesepod101 (of course)
Just to keep listening to Japanese, I have lessons downloaded on my phone and I listen to them on the way to and from work. Beginner S6, Intermediate S5 and the Advanced audio blogs.

がんばりたいと思います。 いっしょけんめい勉強します。
