is this tattoo wrong?

Postby saelfaer » September 25th, 2011 4:49 pm

hey all,

yesterday i was at the beach, with some friends, there was also 1 guy having a tattoo on his foot, i immediately recognized it to be japanese.
now my very limited skills, i could recognize the katakana and hiragana, after some searching on the net i did find the kanji as well.

but i'm puzzling to get the correct meaning / translation
オレたちは仲間た this is what it says (i think)
now this would translate into we're friends or something similar.

someone else pointed out to me that the last た should in fact be a だ
that would of course make:
オレたちは仲間だ this then translates into "i'm their friend'

can anyone give me some advice here ? is the tattoo wrong? and am i on the right track translating it into 'we're friends'

'We're friends' is okay, and yeah it should be だ if it wasn't. Either way, a pretty lame tattoo

When I see Japanese/Chinese tattoos, it's usually just stuff like 龍 and 族. Haven't ever seen sentences.

I don't know why someone would tattoo a language they didn't understand on their body, but it's their problem I suppose.
