Where to start?

Postby ma_ver_ick » July 17th, 2011 4:49 pm

Hi forum!

I'm currently learning japanese in a community college course and I do want to reinforce what I've learned (the course ends this friday). But looking at the thousands of lessons here - I don't know where to start.
It was my first japanese course and we covered all hiragana characters, numbers, and simple sentences (A is B like).

Can anyone suggest me a good point to start?

Kind regards,
Markus.

There's a "Browse Lessons" button up near the top left. If you hit that, there's a menu along the left with the various levels. You could look at some absolute beginner lessons, and if those are too easy, go to the beginner lessons. All of lower level lessons (up to intermediate, at least) have kana and romaji in the lesson notes, so you should be okay.

I started on the Beginner Lessons series 1. Before I found Japanesepod101, I had done about 10 lessons from Japanese for Busy People 1: I suspect that this is a similar level to the one that you are on. I've found beginner series 1 really helpful so far. It's probably worth getting some form of subscription to Japanesepod101 so you get the PDF files too.

Hi Markus,
I'd suggest our Absolute Beginner Season 1 series. The information is organized well and laid out very clearly, I think you will enjoy it :)
