Where to start from

Hi

I am recently beginning to learn Japanese and initially started by watching the video lessons, but now i am not so sure. Should I start from the audio lessons first or learn Hiragana first?

I think learning the hiragana and the katakana would be good steps, along with getting a grammar or text of some sort. Genki and Minna no Nihongo seem popular, but I used a book that's out of print now, so I can't help much there. You could look at thejapanshop.com or whiterabbitpress.com for some ideas.
