Switching to Ubuntu, can't get the premium podcast feed

Postby untmdsprt » December 5th, 2010 1:36 am

to work in Rhythmbox. Does anyone know how to get podcast feeds to work right under a Linux music player?

Thanks!

Might just want to try gPodder, I wouldn't trust Rhythmbox.

The feed should work if you "embed" the username and password in the premium feed URL, like this:

Code: Select All

http://username:password@feedlocation.xml

Unfortunately Rhythmbox (and Banshee, last I checked) won't download either the videos or PDF files. Though, I've not been able to get the PDFs to download even using iTunes, but this appears to be a JapanesePod101.com problem. YMMV, good luck.

Since I last posted here, I'm having to keep the Mac OS for a few things. I've recently updated my hard drive to a bigger and faster one so now I can run Ubuntu as a virtual machine.

I just haven't found a music player that has the same features as iTunes.

I understand completely. If it weren't for JPod101, Spanishpod101 and Chineseclass101 I wouldn't even touch iTunes but it's the only podcatcher that names things semi-intelligently and automatically.
iTunes 10.x runs OK on Natty if you don't mind the visual glitches occasionally.
