Don't know where to start

Postby horfenico5944 » May 16th, 2011 9:11 pm

Hi My name is Eric,

I have been interested in Japanese for a long time, I watch many anime and play many Japanese made video games. I am only 18 but when I am older and can afford it, I hope to go to Japan and maybe teach English there :).

So I have decided that I want to learn the Japanese language, because I find it very intriguing. I have watched most of the beginner videos and have memorized the Hiragana alphabet. Thanks to this site :D

Thing is I want to be able to learn, understand and write basic speech and I just don't know where to start :(. Can anyone help and maybe guide to as to which lessons I should be listening too?

I hope to become very fluent with this language.

Thanks for your help :)

Eric

This page lists the courses that are available:

I broke out the starter series. I'd try some lessons there, and see how they go.

You will need to learn the katakana and the kanji to read Japanese texts. I use this site:

kanji.koohii.com

You'll need Heisig's book "Remembering the Kanji 1" to get started. There are forums on the site that have a lot of useful information. I think you'll want to use a grammar book, too, for example.
