i wondered if you can use the same construction for です as for ~ます verbs, when you want to put it in the て-form, i a polite setting.
for ~ます verbs, you can use まして、
like in あけましておめでとう
or any other polite setting, 事故がありましておくれてしまいました。 or something like that..
now i wondered if this works for です as well
for example: 妻の誕生日でして。。。行けません。
is this a common correct usage? I saw it in a book once, but never heard it been used so far...
