iTouch SRS applications

Postby Yamanchu » January 5th, 2010 1:05 am

Does anyone know if there are any SRS applications which do not need a wireless network? If it's possible to use itunes etc to download the database/word list onto the iTouch?

What's SRS stand for? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRS) If you are talking about your own word list flash card system then there is a program called gwhiz (http://www.gwhizmobile.com) that has a lite version for free. It does require a network connection to grab your dictionary from a google docs account but once retrieved you don't need the connection anymore unless you want to update your list.

If you are talking about just a reference dictionary I can't live without this one now:

good luck!

Anki is the best SRS for PC/Mac, and you can sync with your iPod using iAnki or AnkiMini (requires jailbreak). Check out the site http://ichi2.net/anki/

Hi Javizy, I have Anki and mnemosyne on my computer and they're both very good programs. I was just hoping that I didn't have to buy a wireless modem just to use a flash card program.
PS: You can use Anki (or iAnki, whichever) without jailbreaking your iTouch.

iAnki doesn't require jailbreaking, but you do need a wireless network. I bout a cheap £12 router that I connect when I need to sync. Comes in useful if you need the net for other apps' features too.
