「反対する」対「反対にする」

Postby okunote » January 5th, 2010 2:23 am

I was wondering if someone could help me understand the difference between these two phrases: 反対する and 反対にする

Thanks in advance! :ue:

反対する means to oppose something, to be against
反対にする means to put (something) in the opposite state

for example, you can 反対にする an on/off switch

the difference is immediately clear if look at what に or にする means,
to put sth into that state, in the case of hantai, put something in the opposite state

without the に its not putting sth into the state, but actually doing
so it becomes to oppose
