using ima with arimasu

I was wondering if the sentence "Ima wa nihongo no kurasu ga arimasu" is appropriate.

Now normally words like kyou, ashita, komban etc are not used with particles; however, when the verb arimasu is being used the particle wa must be used. My school textbook didn't include ima with the rest of the time words like kyou and ashita. is Ima classfied as one of these types of time nouns?

Umm I hear words like today romorrow etc used with ha. all the time.You don't have to use it and it is often dropped in casual conversation but there is no problem with using it. You can also use ha with ima. Your sentence seems fine to me.

は marks some sort of contrast. Like there's a class now, not at any other time. So you don't want to say something like 'kyou wa kirei ni mieru ne' to your female friends, since it implies today, and not other days

It could also simply mark the topic. If somebody asks you 'ima wa nan no kurasu ga arimasu ka'?, you would answer with は, since 'ima' has become the topic of conversation.

If you don't need to do either of these things, then you wouldn't bother using it at all.
