best file to d/l for memorizing kanji in "anki" pr

Postby dudnaito » October 9th, 2009 11:03 pm

there are so many options, i was wondering which would be best for a beginner/intermediate level. I can write about 500 kanji, but only know their meanings and such individually... haven't yet memorized too many words (combination of kanji) and their kanji counterparts.

Also, are all the jap. vocab. decks in alphabetical order?

And final question, can't you just get rid of some words... as in , can't you just delete them instead of endlessly reviewing ones you already 100% know.

Thanks, and sorry for the newb. questions.

You can delete vocab words you no longer want in Anki. However, I don't ever seeing this as being much as a problem, because once you get it right several times, you wont be seeing that word again for several months, anyway. Once you learn a word well enough, you may not even see it for a year.

Also, I would advise against just downloading a deck for Anki, even though its easier. It really helps your memorization later on, because you actually recognize the cards as the ones you added earlier. Also, it's always good to double check and make sure the meanings are right.

Personally, I haven't found any good anki decks available - at least, not any made the way I prefer them to be made. There is a deck out there with just the kanji and the meaning, but sometimes Kanji have multiple meanings, or maybe the meaning given isn't exactly clear.

You might have to go through several kanji decks that are online before you find one you like.

I hope this answers your questions.
