how do you pronounce "re"

i keep hearing a combination between de and le. any tips on how to say this?

This is another issue that always comes up. Maybe it needs a FAQ.

No amount of writing about things it sounds like or where to place your tongue really helps.

I suggest you find a native recording and a sound editing program for your system, preferably one that shows waveforms. Then record yourself saying it and compare it to the native speaker. Repeat until you get it to your satisfaction.
If you have a native speaking friend you can get this feedback loop in person if you both have a little patience.

I agree with Belton, ugabuga: no amount of text description will replace good old "monkey see, monkey do." (Do a search on YouTube and I'll bet someone somewhere has posted a video.) That said, as a start, you could try copying the "d"-like sound made in words like "batter" and "butter." That softened "t" sound is fairly similar.

(Isn't there a pronunciation guide somewhere in the Jpod101 materials & posts? I've not poked around for one, but it seems like there should be something.)
