Help translating to japanese Please :D

Postby japchinman12 » August 1st, 2009 1:35 pm

Some of my friends always tease me for learning Japanese and so I want to tell them something.

How can I say this "Learning Japanese to impress and marry a Japanese girl, That
wouldn't work".

Please help me to say this properly.. :)

I'd say something like this, but I can't guarantee it's 100% natural, since I'm not Japanese.

日本女性にいい印象を与えて結婚するため、日本語を勉強するなんてダメじゃないか。
Nihon-josei ni ii inshou o ataeru tame, nihongo o benkyou suru nante dame ja nai ka.
Studying Japanese to impress and marry a Japanese girl isn't going to work.

だれかに印象を与える means to give an impression on someone.
なんて is like a nominaliser that emphasises your negative opinion of what precedes it.
