Unable to download Nihongo Dojo lesson notes

Postby Birddog » July 23rd, 2009 9:16 am

Hey all,

Is anyone else having trouble downloading the Nihongo Dojo pdf files from lesson 1 onwards?

I have tried downloading them through ITunes and individually, it appears they do not exist. I can download other pdf files fine, just not the Nihongo Dojo ones. I tried to get the pdf files for the first 10 episodes with no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help,

Birddog

Hi Birddog,
Could you let us know what kind of feed (basic, premium, or my feed) you are using to get the lessons from iTunes? This will help us in finding the problem.

Similar problem

Postby littlemaikeru » July 28th, 2009 11:32 pm

I have a similar problem. The PDF files I try to open in Safari or Firefox have limited text and mostly squares. This happens with almost every season of every lesson type after the first season.

Here are some other points that might help solve this issue:

1. I have also tried downloading the PDF to no avail.

2. I have no issues typing kana or reading kana on websites. Also kana PDF's from other sites load fine (not a text encoding issue).

3. Weirdest of all: If I copy and paste any of the squares into a text document or the google search bar they appear normally. EX: This is copy/pasted from Survival Phrases S2 #4 - Basic Greetings Lesson notes PDF: "おはようございます"

But as you can see from the screen capture that is not what the PDF looks like:

I am using a MacBook Pro OSX 10.5.7 with Safari 4 (But I've had this problem before Safari 4).

All help is appreciated, ども ありがとうございます - in advanced ^_^

If you are using a Mac I believe you will need to use Adobe Reader to have all of the text show up. If you don't want to use Adobe then the Lesson Notes Lite version should work for you!

Thank you for the quick response.

You were right, using the Lite version does work. However, I'm still curious about why one PDF works and the others do not.

If I understood the reason I might be able to discover a fix. I can use adobe but I like to upload the complete lesson PDFs to my iPhone so I can listen and read and Preview does that easier and faster.

I'm going use the info you gave me and see if I can fix the Safari/preview issue.

Thanks again.

Thanks for all your replies!

Suddenly it's working again. I still can't download the pdf files through itunes, but I can at least download them directly from the site. Not the perfect solution but at least it works.

Thanks
