the use of ''my own''

Postby lewstherin » July 6th, 2009 9:59 pm

I am looking for a way to say things like my own car, my own book , my own website.
I know about the use of the の particle like 私の本 my book. But how would I say my own book? (like its mine I made it myself). I saw on jisho.org the usage of わが and おのが. Could someone explain the usage of these?

cheers! :D

"My own book" and "My book" don't mean anything different in this regard in English (the former carries no implication that you made it). Similarly, 私の本 is fine.

yes I know, but I was trying to say that I made my own blog while trying to highlight I did it myself. So I want ''the act of making it myself'' to be the sentence main point.

If you want to be specific about the fact that it's a book you made/wrote, then you would need to say something like:

自分(or 私)が書いた本 = literally, "the book that I wrote"

Just saying 私の本/自分の本 without any further explanation doesn't automatically mean that it's a book written by you.
