What is this verb?

Postby Liz21 » June 30th, 2006 11:48 am

Can anyone help me?
In the dialogue of an episode on jpod, it says, “Musuko-san wa shukudai o yatte imasu”. What verb is “yatte”? I guess it’s the “te” form of something.

The verb is 'yaru' meaning 'to do', like 'suru'. A similar question was posted not long ago regarding this verb:

Wow! Bucko-san you were fast!

I was just going to post this. Anyhow, translated it means: Your son is doing his homework. So you have the "t-iru" form of the verb "yaru" to show that the son is doing his homework at the moment.

Does this help?

Have a great weekend :)
