Can I view lesson text on my video ipod? If so, how?

Postby rational » December 20th, 2008 5:35 pm

Hi,
Is it possible to see the lesson vocab and kanji/kana on my video ipod screen? Isn't there a way to utilize the graphical capabilities of my 5G video iPod to see something similar to the .pdf notes from the site? Perhaps even the vocab review, grammar notes, etc?

Am I missing something here? Or is this not offered as a feature?

It would be great if I could get the Japanese/English vocab to display at least when listening to the podcasts.

Thanks

No one knows?

Hmmm... 80 views and no reply....

Hoping technical support will respond to this.

I know it works because a friend of mine tried out jpod101 last year and he showed me some of the vocab on his ipod at the time. It was simple, but usable. Is this no longer an option?

Hoping to maximize my ipod's ability to display text to look at the vocab while on the go.

Anyone?

Thanks.

I don't like to reply to topics for which I have little to offer, however I don't want to leave you with the feeling of being snubbed. For me, it's simply a matter of pressing the center button a few times during playback to get it displayed. Not all lessons offer the dialogues/vocabulary, but this works when they do. Since I use 3rd gen nano this, very likely, does not apply to you.

Hope you find an answer soon.

Psy, thank you so much for your kind reply to my request.

Even more beneficial to me was your signature listing Anki and your current progress.

I've downloaded Anki and have started to use it. I purchased Supermemo 2002 and 2006 several years ago but have never mastered them or used them consistently. Anki seems perfect!

I'm even going to try and start using my own sig stats as well. So thanks! :)

I'm having a similar problem with viewing the lesson notes on my ipod. In iTunes' lyrics field I can see all the lesson notes, kanji etc but my ipod only shows the text from 'Show description'. This wasn't always the case. I used to be able to see the lesson notes on my ipod. Does anybody know what's going on? Thanks, Sem

If I'm not very much mistaken, the 'Show Description' is what you should see while the mp3 is playing, the "lyrics" tab of iTunes is independent of it.

Is it not possible to access the lyrics field (i.e. where the lesson transcript is saved) while listening to the lesson audio. I'm sure I used to be able to do that.

I'm having the same problem: I can't see the Lesson Notes on my 80 GB click wheel clasic iPod, whereas I can see the older lesson notes? How come? Can anyone help me?

(sniff, weep, moan)

If you download a lesson directly from the site (NOT iTunes), can you see the lesson notes? That fixed the problem for me.

I have a 30GB video iPod and can click the wheel twice to see the lesson notes. Granted the lessons notes have to be put into the lyrics field first for them to show up.

I'd check iTunes first to see if the notes have actually been put into that field. I've found some lessons that they forgot to either tag it or whatever they actually do.

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean I should download the lesson, then drag the lesson to iTunes? I want to see the lesson notes on my iPod, so I have to use iTunes, don't I?

When I selected My Feed (Premium Membership) I asked for the pdf files. They show up in the lyrics, but not on the iPod. I get the message: #Post Excerpt#

untmdsprt: Thanks for your reply, also!

The strange thing is: I can still see the Lesson Notes on my iPod from the earliest podcasts!

To repeat: I can see the Lesson Notes in Lyrics in iTunes, but I can't see them on my iPod.

I need more help! Anyone? Thanks so much.

Have you tried resetting your iPod? Hold the menu, and center button down until it reboots itself. I made separate lists for each category of lessons, and couldn't see one of the lists. I also had the computer remove everything from the iPod and then resynced it. This solved my problem.

I remain confused as to why the lesson texts don't AUTOMATICALLY show up on my 80 GB, classic iPod! I can't believe I am paying for premium and I would have to physically drag files to iTunes. Is this really true? Wow, that would take a lot of extra time! Can anyone else comment? How about the Tech Support people at JPOD? Thanks.

Actually, I think I need step-by- step directions to do this. It's unfortunate because the older lessons show up fine on my iPod and I didn't have to do a thing! Can anyone give me complete directions? (How to get the lesson notes to show up on my iPod?)

All it says now is, **Post Excerpts** (That's not very helpful at all! )
