Could someone help me understand this game cover?

Postby JackiJinx » April 28th, 2009 4:28 pm

I recently bought a video game called Giftpia (ギフトピア) and before I start playing it, I'd like help understanding what the back cover says. I looked up all the Kanji and it's still not making much sense to me. Here we go:

大したものも
大したこともないけれど
ふと見ればそこは
贈り物に満ちたゆるい世界
大人になるための
日常の始まりです。

I think the first line says something about there being great ones, but my grammar isn't very advanced at all. Help is very much appreciated.

I found this a bit difficult to translate naturally. I think you pretty much need to rewrite it completely in English, but I tried to keep the meaning of the Japanese:

大したものも大したこともない
There is nothing (material, including people) great, and nothing (abstract) great.
けれどふと見ればそこは贈り物に満ちたゆるい世界大人になるための日常の始まりです。
But if you take a look, there is the beginning of an every day life which will allow you to become a fully fledged member of the relaxed world full of gifts.

I think my head just exploded. I wonder if all backcover game descriptions are like this in Japan?
